Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. We have over five years’ experience delivering psychological assessments remotely. This means we understand not only the assessment tools, but also how to create the right conditions for meaningful observation, engagement, and accurate interpretation in an online setting.
Remote assessment is not new to us — it is a well-established part of our practice.
-
Assessment is a joint process. We work collaboratively with parents and, where appropriate, with a school-based or home-based facilitator.
Parents are not expected to “step back” entirely — your insight and presence are often an important part of helping your child feel safe and understood.
-
The most effective sessions are those where preparation happens before the assessment begins.
This may include:
Pre-assessment questions for parents
Social stories or explanations to help children understand what will happen
Short conversations in advance to reduce uncertainty
Clear guidance for adults supporting the child during the session
When everyone understands the purpose and structure, children are far more able to engage naturally.
-
No — remote assessment is not always appropriate. Take our remote assessment quiz to see if it could be a good fit for your child. You know your child best.
-
Absolutely. We have been using remote assessments for children and young people from 3 years old to 25 years old. It is very common for parents to feel uneasy or sceptical about remote assessments at first.
Interestingly, many children are more comfortable with technology than adults. Being in a familiar environment, using a screen they already know, often reduces anxiety and can allow children to show their strengths more naturally than in unfamiliar settings.
We take time to talk through any concerns and ensure families feel informed and supported throughout the process.
